Yahoo Microsoft Deal
Breaking news in the internet and technology business sector – the much reported and discussed Yahoo Microsoft Deal is likely to go through following U.S. Department of Justice and European Commission approval.
Yahoo Microsoft Deal
The deal which will see Yahoo surrender WWW searching activities to Microsoft (in exchange for a cut of advertising revenue) was initially announced last year, but has been awaiting approval on both sides of the Atlantic. The move will doubtless help to strengthen Microsoft’s place in the global search engine market – currently dominated by Google, who maintain strong control over the internet search industry.
The process of migrating the searching platform will be a dynamic one, with the main work hopefully being carried out before the end of the year. Advertising etc. may see a more gradual move that takes longer. Both share prices appeared to be up in the markets as a result of the announcement.
Yahoo and Microsoft are both massive global players in the internet industry, each netting millions of dollars of profits so it is no surprise that the merger required a long and complicated approval process. It remains to be seen if this Yahoo Microsoft Deal will change the face of internet searching in the coming years.
