Vote Labour

The message around South Wales is a resounding ‘Vote Labour’, as the Tories gathered to try to stop their support haemorrhage which seems to be occurring all over the UK. The number of people who will vote Labour over the Conservatives is rising again in Wales, and the chances of a ‘hung parliament’, where no one party has total control is possible.

Vote Labour

David Cameron will be making a rare appearance in Wales as part of the Conservatives effort to increase support, but it seems his presence may be needed all around the country – UK-wide polls have seen what looked like an unassailable lead for the centre-right wing party dwindle in recent weeks.

A YouGov poll last night for Channel 4 News of marginal seats made the gap between the Labour Party and Conservatives just 2% – which is great news for the Government and bad news for the Tories, who seemed to be free-wheeling towards victory just a few months ago.

The Welsh Conservatives will talk a lot about change and 13 years of Laboru government, however it is difficult for them to shake the image of the Tories as party which is only interested in the rich getting richer. In Wales at least, the consensus seems to be ‘Vote Labour’ rather than ‘Vote Conservative’.

I think people will rue the day they trusted the Tories with our economy. Look at what the IMF and other world-renowned economists are saying – Tory plans to slash public spending when there is no private demand to replace it will be disasterous.

We need to support the economy. But Cameron wants to use it as an opportunity to drive through his right-wing agenda to dismantle our valuable public services and sell them off on the cheap to private organisations.

    Don’t change for change’s sake.
