The police performed a thorough search of the educational facility, but no University of Buffalo gunman was found. The search was completed by 7.45pm, local time. Senior University officials and police agreed that there is no threat to the campus.

Police carried a room-by-room search of the six-storey Lockwood Library. The search took about 4 hours.

The alert came about after what appeared to be a gunman was captured on security camera footage inside the University of Buffalo. Students were told about the threat and warned to stay away via text messages and emails.

Even though no arrests were made, the University took the precaution of cancelling classes for the evening campus-wide. Officials from the University of Buffalo said that normal service will be resumed on Wednesday.

The University of Buffalo library is the largest in the State University of New York system, and is open to the public. The building in question is located on the University of Buffalo’s north campus, in Amherst.
