Many of the Americans who will be tuning to the Super Bowl on Sunday will be more interested to watch Super Bowl Halftime Show 2011 then then game itself. It’s a strange phenomenon that has over the years become a fabric of American culture and tradition. We preview what you can expect for the 2011 SuperBowl Halftime show including the performances and artists scheduled to perform.

Super Bowl Halftime Show 2011

The main performance in the Super Bowl 2011 halftime show is the Black Eyed Peas. It’s not your traditional Super Bowl half time performance, with rock legends usually more in tune with the NFL demographic. However Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas are as mainstream as it gets, and that’s what the Super Bowl is all about – appealing to the whole nation as opposed to the hardcore American football fans. They also have some experience performing in this colossal event, so they can refine their trade and put on a great show as the lead act.

Another huge name set to perform in the 2011 Super Bowl halftime show is Usher, the R&B megastar who is known to put great shows during big sporting events.

If you’re looking for some classic rock & roll then worry not as Slash will be performing as well. The former lead guitarist of Guns N Roses will aim to rock the stadium that’s expected to have over 100,000 people present.

The Bridgestone Super Bowl Halftime show 2011 will feature the Prairie View A&M University Marching Storm to warm the crowd to the big occasion.

What do you think of the 2011 SuperBowl 45 Halftime show? Is it a bit light on rock, or is the transition to a balanced show more suitable for some of the casual fans who just tune in to watch Super Bowl Halftime Show 2011?

  • Do I think the half-time show will be good? Of course it it will, it always is (whether or not I particularly like the bands that are playing that year)!
Should we even concern ourselves with a “balanced show more suitable for some of the casual fans who just tune in to watch Super Bowl Halftime Show 2011?” Heck, NO! If you want to tune to a channel for a concert go watch HDNET.

  • The show is spectacular. Because of the unique capabilities of the stadium, this show will have elements never seen on a half time show before. Look for the Black Eyed Peas to come down on LED swings from the massive video board, Slash to rise up out of the stage in a plume of smoke, and Usher to make a high speed entrance on a winch harness. The HD video board is used for IMAG, as well as orchestrated clips to enhance the show. The people in the stands are going to get an unbelievable live experience, with the addition of hundreds (thousands?) of light fixtures and stacks of speakers rolled onto the field. The dancers on the field will be wearing unique costumes as well.

    • Well, did you watch it???

    • Best Super Bowl Half Time ever. I thought it reflected the new music of today and the music of the 40 somethings. Very impressed, first halftime I have actually sat through. More often than not I get up and do stuff. This one held me in my chair. Thanks BEP, Usher and Guns and Roses, Slash. What a treat.

  • I thought Justin bieber would be there.

  • The performers were sick! We got up and left the room before they finished.

  • This is the WORST halftime show I’ve ever seen. I ain’t black, neither is alot of this country. If I wanted to see a bunch of monkeys jumping around making disgusting noise, I would have gone to the zoo. WHAT A BUNCH OF BS…………..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Wow…..That is pure racism without even an attempt at shrouding itself under aesthetic critique.

      • Racism!!! Awe….come on! Get a life! Do you have any comments when a show of performers are all white! When listing to any large performance at any large event–don’t look at the color of their skin. We are all the same in the eyes of God. I am a 62 year old born and raised in New England and enjoyed the show as I have always each and every year — no matter who!

    • Sad, sad response. We need to change the hateful dialogue with people in this country!

    • keep your racist attitude to yourself.

  • this was a waste of money and time can not stand this who set this up is stupid this was one of the worst halftime shows. ill be glad when its over

  • So far not impressive.

    • I concur! We were not impressed, could not wait for it to end, Usher and Slash were really good but that was it! What in the world were we watching anyway? What a waste of time and resources. Should have known when the National Anthem was ruined! When the best of the performances was America the Beautiful and from there it went down hill – you had to know we were in trouble. As far as the music being for the 40 “somethings.” Not that music – that was what we call garbage.

  • Christina A. Messed up my favorite song. The National Anthem. And the halftime show sucked! Hire Bob Dylan or the Boss, or Tom Petty next nimbi. Slash was great, but that no voice ugly chick ruined one on Guns N’ Roses best song. Wasted money on those clowns in suits. Hire a better band and let the crowd rush the field next year. Stop remaking songs!

  • Half time show was horrible. Had to change the channel. They could have picked a better group.

  • By far the worst halftime show omg nfl should be ashamed of that performance mics didn’t properly work and the lights were off on the v in love and fergies voice was a bust.

  • I WOULD LIKE TO FIX A WINCH HARNESS FOR USHER…….ONLY IT MIGHT BE HARD FOR HIM TO SING AFTERWARDS.

  • while the visual effects of the show were good and not something typically seen I am sorry to say that I am less then impressed.

  • LOVED this show!!!!!

  • That was absolutely awful. Whoever mixed that for the viewers needs to be fired, they obviously cant execute at the nfl’s level. Whoever was managing that let the viewers down and the black eyed peas down. Terrible

  • That was the WORST halftime show I have ever seen. Good job you worthless, politically correct, crappy, untalented band

  • one of the worst half time show ever. Not entertaining at all. And the National Anthem what did she think she was doing other then ruining it.

  • Wow!! The halftime show was horrible. Try something country next year.

  • I thought the half time show SUCKED!!!! It was a huge disappointment watching and listening to Fergie sing Sweet Child of Mine, I thought she butchered it and Guns and Roses should lower their heads in shame from the performance she gave.

    It was horrible, just horrible!!!

  • The halftime show was the worst I have ever seen. Black eyed peas sucked

  • Where can we get one of those lighted costumes?

  • Truly a very PATHETIC show. A total disappointment. Has to be one of the worst if not the worst.

  • Great half time show!!

  • The performance was ok I wish they would have played their latest songs as well as usher. Over all a good performance.

    • I agree. It was “okay”, but “okay” is not “wow.”
It was also eerily reminiscent of the Chinese Olympics Opening in 2008.

  • The Halftime show SUCKED!!!!

  • half time 2011 has got to be the worst ever…
    SO TOTALLY LAME!!!
    Who books these clowns? FOX????
    really disappointed
    major FAIL

  • Terrible Halftime show.Trashed Songs from the Beginning.Hope They Don’t expect to get paid.

  • Who in the world is “Sledge”? The man is a guitar/heavy metal enigma, and the BEP rely on synthesizers and a Tron-light show.

I’m sorry to say I’m stunned and ashamed that Christina butchered the national anthem.

  • They were like bad karaoke! I would like to see less gimmicks and more rocking in the stadium. Get some real musicians in there and have a real party!

  • Totally unimpressive. Get’s worse every year. I will NEVER buy a bridgestone tire!

    • Ha! Good comment…go after sponsor to let them know how much they sucked…GREAT ONE George!

    • George is right. I felt the need to send bridgestone a comment holding them responsible for that crap. Your sponsor it you own it. I would sue the BEY for breach of contact. That was not a performance that was a mufti-million dollar trainwreck.

  • thought this show sucked worse than any of the previous garbage in years past where are we going !!!

  • Awesome halftime show. Usher was the best

  • What a disappointment. Technical problems, singers who shout (and not carry a tune). What make it sad (and a reflection on todays music scene) is that music groups are more interested in dancing and the music suffers! At least before yhe 1990′s, groups WOULD acctually play their own instruments.

  • This was the worst halftime show in 40 years! Fergie couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket! How awful! She butchered the Guns and Roses song! What demographic was this aimed at? NO ONE with us from 10 yrs old to 55 years old enjoyed it. What is wrong with the people who chose this?

  • Great show. Usher was the best

  • first time ever to watch superbowl half time loved BEP’s

  • Sound was awful, the “v” in love was not lit properly…lots of problems…you think that with as much time and money they spent, they would have a SUPERB show…the best part was the light suits that the dancers wore…SLASH rocked…in summary, one of the WORST HALF TIME SHOWS..E.V.E.R.!!

    Christina killed the national anthem!

How ’bout those folk that were not allowed in their seats…I would be a pissed off ticket holder! NFL said they would pay them pack 3x the value they paid…what about their hotels, planes, etc!

  • I’m often disappointed with the Super Bowl Halftime shows. This was a rare exception. I think it is probably the best ever!
The BEPs were an excellent choice, whose music is positive, and not negatively political, appealing to a rather broad spectrum of music lovers. The different acts were complimentary, not competitive, and were very nicely transitioned.
Thanks for the great show, people!

  • Unfortunately fell flat!

  • They slashed Slash.they ushered out usher,Don’t they rehearse this, alot of miscues

  • what a disaster. that was one of the worst halftime shows i’ve ever seen

  • I really liked the glowing people, but the music was horrible. Goes to show these guys need lots of hyped up production and gimmicks to make them sound good. If you can’t do it live, then you’re just not talented.

  • The worst halftime show ever. I had rather watch Barney and Friends at least we could learn something.

  • Pitiful, what more can I say. Fire the technical staff that should have delivered top notch quality audio. Worst live performance i have ever witnessed. sorry i wasted my time.

  • What a no talent bunch of clowns. What was with the dudes with cubes on their heads?? Is that what passes for entertainment with these schmucks. Try getting back to some musicians with some talent instead of all the flash and zero substance. Worst half time show EVER!!! Also when I heard that Christina A was going to “sing” the National Anthem I just knew she was going to butcher it but she surpassed my worst expectations. Her singing acrobatics have no place with the National Anthem.

    • TOM you are my Hero!!! Tell ya what lets get you and me and a singing parrot and do the show…we could have done a better job.

  • This half time show SUUUUCKED HORRIBLY!!

I don’t know whether the mics and sound system was off… But they sounded horrible…

  • OMG I have laughed and laughed!!!! My husband said they should have had Terry Bradshaw sing LOL!!!! And he thought RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS were doing half time show!!! LMAO

  • Cancel 2012 b4 it gets worse

    Cant wait until next year…not

  • This is the first time I’ve ever sat through the entire halftime show, and I liked it. Every year there are going to be people who don’t like the artist they chose or the performance itself, and obviously this year isn’t any different. Lea Michele was great, though.

  • Best part of the Super Bowl ~ Fergie & The Black Eyed Peas singing “Time of My Life” & “Dirty Bit” ~ Loved all the choreographed dancers on the field, too :-)Yes, the sound system was a bit off until just before Usher appeared; however, I was singing along with the songs, so I just filled in the gaps for them :-) What fun to see Slash of Guns & Roses singing “Sweet Child of Mine,” too~!

    • Now we know what they mean when someone says misguided youth…How in the world can anyone in their right mind think that show was good. But then again you could run out a homeless person and have them bang on a bucket with a stick and someone like them. now we know who is buying their terrible music and making them rich. God help us all if you ever get to VOTE.

  • My hubby and I literally could not stop watching. It was like a train wreck. Just terrible!! You’d think they’d pick artists who can sing LIVE to perform at Halftime!
