The Open Leaderboard

Going in to the final day of the Championship, the Open leaderboard is certainly not many would have predicted a few short weeks ago. With a number of stars in the hunt for the title after Day 2, it was little known South African Louis Oosthuizen who managed to hold his nerve and go through to the final day with a lead of four strokes.

Next on the Open leaderboard is Paul Casey, and he’ll be hoping that nerves finally get to the 29 year old so that he can pass him on the final stretch. Of all of the top nine players on the Open leaderboard, none has won a major championship, so it will be interesting to see who grabs the glory on the final day.

It was a strange day for Tiger Woods, who seems to have put his driving worries behind him, but was let down by his putter at the Old Course. In the unlikely event that he were to stage a comeback and win, it would be the biggest bounce back up an Open leaderboard since the infamous 1999 competition which left Jean van de Velde melting down in a bunker on 18, and Paul Lawrie winning it all in a playoff.

Here is the Open Leaderboard after 3 Rounds:

Oosthuizen -15
Casey -11
Kaymer -8
Canizares -7
Stenson -7
Westwood -7
Johnson -6
Barnes -5
Goosen -5
O’Hair -5
Watney -5

Today will be a fascinating day of golf, and we will see if the fairytale can continue for Oosthuizen, or if someone else will be on top of the Open leaderboard when the sun goes down tonight.
