The new game is called “Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure” and will see a major shift in style from any other game ever released. Activision have long been known to operate business models that aim to maximize revenue from their popular franchises, and it seems like they’ve found a brand new way with Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure.
Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure
Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure will combine the world of video games and toys like it has never really been done on this scale. Up to 31 difference characters will be present in the game as a playable hero (alongside Spyro himself) but the twist is that players will have to ‘summon’ these extra characters in the form of physical toys that will be available across the country in toy shops.
Activision will be pairing up with Toys R Us for this bold and innovate endeavor and has announced plans to not only release the game in all video game platforms but also in mobile and web versions so that players can constantly keep upgrading their favorite characters.
Each of the characters have their own style and moves and through a chip built in to the toys will be able to store any progress/achievements/upgrades that the player has recorded. The characters themselves were designed with the help of Shrek’s character designer, the story was scripted by some of the original writers from Toys Story 1 and the score will include talent from “Inception”.
Already you can watch Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure trailer at the game’s official site. The starter pack which includes the game, 3 character toys, and cards will cost 70$ with the price of additional toy characters not yet announced. The game is scheduled to be released in Fall of 2011.
This marks a major innovation in the world of games, combining the virtual world with the physical one in the natural evolution of toys and gaming in a world that has changed massively over the years. Whether Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure is the beginning of the next level or just a big flop in the making is still uncertain, but no one can say Activision is not innovating any longer.

This toy character system brings the fantastic possibility of crossovers with different games! (For example, Sega licences a Sonic figure to be used in the game. Plus, Activision owns Crash Bandicoot, right? He’s likely to be in this!)

I am sick of how people just keep making more and more and more and more and MORE Spyro games! They killed the idea years ago, stop mucking it up so much!!!
This idea looks really stupid and that they should just give it up now. The first 3 spyro games were the best. The ones made by INSOMNIAC!
Maybe they should get the idea back, and make it the way it is SUPPOSED TO BE!
Spyro should go back to the way it was, all those years ago.
It is ruined now… GIVE IT UP! I liked the way it was when he died in the last game… NO MORE OF THIS STUPIDITY!

You do know that the first couple of games technicly was by activision? At the time insomniac was mergered w/ activision. So you can’t really say activision “ruined” spyro.

I wish they would have just made a new franchise instead of reviving a dead Spyro just for familiarity. But then the game wouldn’t sell well… or cause that much disappointment.

I grew up playing Spyro as a kid. I’m 18 now. Loved the first game, loved the second and the 3rd. 4th, well I liked it and even all the rest too. But this, is a fucking piece of shit. THIS, is not Spyro. “IT” is some deformed looking, mutated freak who looks like a cross between a purple lizard and Satan. Not only did they ruin the characters, but they’ve ruined the game. Look at the levels. There’s probably no story, no soul to this. Just trash. Spyro helped me learn English when I was younger. This is gonna make kid’s retarded. The new Spyro actually looks like it has Down Syndrome or something. Fucking horrible. And they actually canceled the Spyro movie for this.

One of ways how they migh safe this issue is by just adding another Spyro figure that will be exagtly like the classic one.
But even doing that,it will be questionable,if the game itself will be funn. Legend of Spyro did suck for sure with its lame fighting gameplay :(

okay couple of things to say first is simple where the heck is Sparx, Ripto? I grew up with spyro. I was already disapionted with the legend of Spyro games I thought they would of learned by now. I have to admit the skeleton/knight looks pretty cool, but Spyro looks like he got cancer. From what it looks like this game was only made for people to waste valuable time and money upgrading and playing new characters it’s a scam. When it comes out I’ll try it only because I heard that they made it to see if they’ll make a new spyro trilogy or an entirely new series with those characters…Spyro what happened to you?

sorry i forgot to mention for all u guys who grew up with insomniac’s spyro buy the game trust me if you buy and use spyro most of the time and if u like some of the characters play as them too. the main reason why they made this game and included Spyro was because they wanted to see if people wanted Spyro to return as a video game with ripto or some new character so please just buy the game

I first played spyro when i was 1 year old.After that when i was 3 years old i’ve learned a few english and then nothing..After that activision killed spyro and now they made a spyro-satan.Ill buy the new game for 1 reason

I grew up with spyro to!!! But for you People who didn’t even played the legend of spyro series and still call it crap why don’t you try to actully finish all of the three games,I love the old spyro but tlos was emotional and finally had a girl character I liked (cynder) who was kick ass until the third one that’s when she got cocky, I clocked the first two the legend of spyro games more than four times, even though the last one tired me out I still played it for the story line and at the end i was very satisfied
