Basketball star Shaquille O’Neal will star in a second season of the ABC reality show “Shaq VS.,” which tests the towering hoopster in areas off the court while competing against other personalities. Shaq will have his work cut out for him, as the second season sees him venturing into other media besides the physical world.

“I’m out to prove that I can compete beyond athletics,” O’Neal said in a press release for the show. “I’ve spent all year sharpening my skills and I want to win. There’s no challenge bigger than me.”

The first season of “Shaq VS.” involved face-offs against Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, boxer Oscar de la Hoya, St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols and a volleyball game against Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor, wherein Shaq was teamed with tennis star Serena Williams.

Though the second season will involve similar fare, such as a race against NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and a golf game with fellow basketballer Charles Barkley, Shaq will also participate in a spelling bee against Scripps National Champion Kavya Shivashankar; have a New York City cook-off against celebrity chef Rachael Ray; out-sing teen crooner Justin Bieber in Orlando; outwit illusionists Penn & Teller; and throw down against former Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Champion Joey Chestnut. And that’s just for starters.

The new season of “Shaq VS.” will premiere at 9 p.m. ET Aug. 3 on ABC.
