See The Hurt Locker

Still want to See The Hurt Locker in theaters?  You are in luck.  Though the best picture winning film has already been released onto DVD and blueray, anxious fans, or those who have yet to see the critically acclaimed film can still catch it during a limited re-release in theaters.

The Film originally failed to attract many viewers, but was critically acclaimed and creeped its way into the Oscars.  The drama was heightened by the fact that The Hurt Locker Oscar Winning Director Kathryn Bigelow is the ex-wife of James Cameron, the director of Avatar who was also nominated for Best Director and Best Picture.

The film, nominated for 9 academy awards (tied for the most nominations with Avatar) won six of the little golden men, taking the most awards at the 82nd annual academy awards.

The film was originally released in 2008 at several small film festivals, but was not generally released until 2009.  It generated less than $1 million in its first week of general release, but has now grossed over $21 million worldwide.  This is less than 1% of Avatar’s worldwide sales, so what Kathryn Bigelow won in acclaim, James Cameron can buy with his new small fortune.
