Still want to See Avatar in theaters?  You are in luck.  Though the best picture nominee has already grossed more than $2 billion worldwide, and has been in theaters for over two months, eager fans who want to see the film (or, see it again) can still catch the 3D futuristic sci-fi fantasy in theaters across the country.

It failed to win best picture at the academy awards on Sunday night, losing out to the box office bust, but critically acclaimed The Hurt Locker.  James Cameron, director of Avatar, did not look happy that his highly acclaimed film lost out to his ex-wife  Director Kathryn Bigelow, who is now the first woman to win the Best Director award. Still, Cameron cannot be happy having produced the highest grossing picture of all time.  Twice.  (Avatar shattered his own record, set by Titanic).

The film, nominated for 9 academy awards (tied for the most nominations with The Hurt Locker) won three of the little golden men.  It is a groundbreaking film from a technological perspective, but members of the academy clearly thought that the story and message behind the Hurt Locker trumped whatever innovations Cameron made with Avatar.
