Premier League Highlights – UPDATE
Here is the Premier League Highlights Update for Saturday 27 February 2010 – which saw a feast of football. There were shocks, upsets and many other highlights in today’s English Premier League (EPL) games – so let’s get straight to them.
Premier League Highlights – UPDATE
Chelsea v Man City, 12:45
Arguably the biggest match in the Engligh Premier League today was Chelsea v Manchester City – and the game certainly didn’t disappoint in terms of drama, excitement and controversy. Frank Lampard scored twice for Chelsea, but it was nowhere near enough to stop a rampant Man City team – who scored four goals, including a brace for Craig Bellamy. They were helped by the referee, who sent off both Ballack and Belletti of Chelsea in separate incidents.
Final score – Chelsea 2 – 4 Manchester City
Birmingham v Wigan, 15:00
A penalty saw Birmingham’s James McFadden make his way onto the scoresheet against Wigan. His strike, on the stroke of half-time, was enough to secure the victory.
Final score – Birmingham 1 – 0 Wigan

Bolton v Wolves, 15:00
Zat Knight scored Bolton’s only goal of this game, and Wolves couldn’t come back from the deficit. Good work from Chung-Yong Lee in the build-up to the goal, dribbling along the end line was the highlight of this Premier League match.
Final score – Bolton 1 – 0 Wolves
Burnley v Portsmouth, 15:00
Under-fire (and in administration) club Portsmouth scored first against Burnley, to the delight of their fans. Frederic Piquionne got the goal minutes after Burnley’s Steven Fletcher had had a goal disallowed for offside. Burnley scored a few minutes later, which watered-down the away fans’ celebrations somewhat. There was further drama with two penalties to Pompey, only one of which was converted – leading to an amazing result for them.
Final score – Burnley 1 – 2 Portsmouth
Stoke v Arsenal, 17:30
The Stoke v Arsenal match was marred by an ugly tackle by Ryan Shawcross, whose lunge on Aaron Ramsey saw him see a red card, and saw Ramsey stretchered off in agony. The football on the pitch was affected as a number of players were clearly shaken. The final score in the game saw Arsenal coming out on top three goals to one.
Final Score: Burnley 1 – 3 Arsenal
