  • Our condolences regarding the loss of your father. We grew to love him as we watched his efforts unfold season after season on television. Our prayers are with you. You are surely blessed with your father’s courage, resilience, and character. May it be a comfort to you always. Linda and Chuck Riley

  • Josh and Jake…So sorry to hear of your Dad’s death. I thought for sure he was to fierce to die. He was AWESOME!! My favorite on the program.

  • Phil Harris may have died at the age of 53 but he packed more living into that short time span than most people who live to 100 do. Sure, he could have taken better care of himself – but then he wouldn’t have been Phil. And he wouldn’t have been remembered so well.

  • i am very sorry to hear that the great captain is no longer with us.
R.I.P Phil, you will be missed.

  • Condolences from my own family to yours. He was always our favorite captain.

  • Phil Harris wasn’t a movie star, he wasn’t some politician and he wasn’t something Hollywood created. He was a real guy with real feelings and a real heart. it’s that heart that will be missed the most. God Bless the Harris family.

I have never met Phil (unfortunately) but he was alot like my father and I enjoyed watching him on TV because he brought back so many good memories of my father who I lost when I was 15. They both died way too young but they both gave me alot of good memories! Take Care Phil and Enjoy the GREAT Fishing Up There!! Dennis W.

When we heard of your father’s passing, that’s all we’ve been able to think about. We went to Alaska this year and saw Phil getting into a van. It was a great thrill for us since we watch the show and every rerun at least 100 times. Our prayers are with you and we hope to continue watching you on the Cornelia Marie in your father’s honor. We are so sorry.

  • Phil Harris lived his life by the following:

When Phil was born, he cried and the whole world rejoiced. When he died, the whole world cried and he rejoiced. May you rest in peace my friend.

  • I am at a loss for words. For my loss is great. But my loss is so small compared to the loss of a father or a friend. I sill feel as if I knew him. I just can’t believe he’s gone. He was one of a kind and will be mist by all! I will celebrate his life and morn his death.
My deepest gratitude for letting me share some time with him. Please live as if he were here and don’t look back without a smile as he smiles at you now. The world has lost more then a captain or a father we have all lost someone very special!
    James & joan

  • It is never easy losing a parent or sibling. As one who lost both both recently, my dad in June and then my sister in January, I know first hand the pain your heart feels and I would like to share this with Josh, Jake and anyone else who is feeling the sadness of Phils passing.

    When tomorrow starts without me,
    and I’m not there to see;
If the sun should rise and find your eyes,
    all filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry,
    the way you did today,
while thinking of the many things,
    we didn’t get to say.

I know how much you love me,
as much as I love you,
and each time that you think of me,
    I know you’ll miss me too;
But when tomorrow starts without me,
    please try to understand,
that an angel came and called my name,
and took me by the hand,
and said my place was ready,
    in heaven far above,
and that I’d have to leave behind,
    all those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away,
a tear fell from my eye,
for all life, I’d always thought,
    I didn’t want to die.
I had so much to live for,
    so much yet to do,
    it seemed almost impossible,
    that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays,
the good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared,
and all the fun we had.

    If I could relive yesterday,
    just even for awhile,
I’d say goodbye and kiss you
    and maybe see you smile.
    But then I fully realized,
    that this could never be,
    for emptiness and memories,
would take the place of me.

And when I thought of worldly things,
    I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
my heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven’s gates,
I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me,
    from His great golden throne,
    He said, “This is eternity,
    and all I’ve promised you”.

Today for life on earth is past,
    but here it starts anew.
    I promise no tomorrow,
    but today will always last,
and since each day’s the same day,
there’s no longing for the past.

But you have been so faithful,
    so trusting and so true.
Though there were times you did some things,
    you knew you shouldn’t do.
    But you have been forgiven
and now at last you’re free.
So won’t you take my hand
and share my life with me?

So when tomorrow starts without me,
    don’t think we’re far apart,
for every time you think of me,
I’m right here, in your heart.

  • I AM JUST SO SAD, AND SORRY FOR THE BOYS AND FAMILY, PHIL WAS ONE OF A KIND, I LOVED HIS HUMOR, PRACTICLE JOKES, THE BANTER BETWEEN HIS BOYS AND CREW, BUT MOSTLY, THE LIFESTYLE. i WOULDN’T LAST 5 MINUTES OUT THERE. hE WAS ALWAYS SAFETY FIRST. THE CARE OF HIS CREW ALWAYS CAME FIRST. WILL THERE BE A SPECIAL EDITION OF THE SHOW PERTAINING TO PHIL AND HIS LIFE? I WATCHED THE SHOW THE OTHER EVENING TILL MIDNIGHT, I NOTICED THAT PHIL WAS NOT SHOWN MUCH, BUT JUST TO SEE THAT FACE, MADE ME FEEL HAPPY TO SEE HIM AGAIN, I HOPE THERE WILL BE SOMETHING SOON. HE WAS ONE HELL OF A MAN, FATHER, AND CAPTAIN, I WILL NEVER FORGET HIM. JOSH AND JAKE, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART. SINCERELY, MARCIA. MANTUA, OHIO

  • I am very sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. No words can really help with the pain but he will be missed by not only those who knew him and loved him but also those who knew him only from the show. He came across as a tough hard working man who loved his family. As owner of a couple of tattoo shops I was always trying to get a closer look at his ink. He was certainly no stranger to the needle! Me and my family are saddened by your loss and we will also miss the hard nosed skipper of the Cornelia Maria. May your pride in your father drown out the incredible pain of his loss. He seemed like a great guy to have a beer with

Farewell to our favourite Deadliest Catch captain. He will still sail the waves and guide Cornelia Maria from a much safer place. He wouldn’t let his boys sail alone. Good bless, and our prayers go to his family.

  • Kristen & William

We loved your dad, Captain Phil. My husband and I always watch the show and can’t wait for new episodes. He was a one of a kind man. A true, proud man that loved you boys. He was tough when he needed to be but deep down, he had a soft heart. I just lost my mother a week ago today, and know you pain. Hang on to each other for support and make your dad proud of you two. Please, please, carry on his legacy if you can. I just went back to work today and it is hard to carry on without a parent, but as I have learned life does go on as it has to. Your dad would want you two to go on and have a wonderful and fullfilling life. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

I just returned from deployment and found out the news of your father. I have experienced this myself and is a very rough moment to deal within your family. I wish you and your family the best and can only pray that the pain you are and will continue to deal with will reduce in time. I have spent countless months at sea and have dealt with the pain of focusing on the important job at at hand and dealing with family issues at the same time. I can only pray that your family finds the courage to continue on with your family duty as fishermen. Your father had an impact on me…..not just because he was on TV but because his personallity was similar to my fathers and has reminded me so much of my own Dad. I wish and pray you and your family the best.

  • With great saddness of the passing of captain phil me and my family along with the nation wishes you our prayers.rest in peace phil harris, and farewell, he wont suffer anymore walking on the water with the lord, the ultimate vacation if you will.
