After one hour at the Oscars, there are some clear Oscar Fashion trends.  High slit dresses are in (Mariah Carey, Faith Hill), as is monochrome (Vera Farmiga, Mariah Carey, Faith Hill).  High, thin lapels are also in amongst the men, and viewers are seeing an equal amount of ties and bowties (Jake Gylenhaall just entered the Red Carpet with a bowtie).

Fashion has not taken center stage on E!’s pre-progamming in the last five years since Joan Rivers left.  Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic are hosting the pre-oscar red carpet program for E!.  The show last two hours, before the official red carpet extravaganza on ABC begins.

Has the Red Carpet lost its mystique?  According to a recent article in Time Magazine, the celebrity and media world is so over saturated, that fewer people are interested in the star-studded event than used to be.

Still, millions across the globe will snuggle into their televisions to watch hollywood stars walk across the red carpet into the awards show.  Tom Cruise, George Clooney, Maryl Streep, Morgan Freeman and more will be at the event tonight.

Project Runway’s Tim Gunn and Good Morning America’s host Robin Roberts will be outside the Kodak theater this evening for ABC’s coverage, interviewing the stars and figuring out “who are you wearing?!”    The pre-program red carpet show will last 1/2 hour, and the official awards ceremony will start at 8:30 eastern time.  It will already be dark back east by the time the festivities begin, but it will still be sunny out in a partly cloudly Los Angeles when the E Red Carpet Show begins.  Stay Tuned with Breaking Global News for more on Oscar Fashion Trends.
