It sounds like the Minnesota Twins are in the final stages of negotiating with Orlando Hudson to take him on a one year deal.

There is a growing feeling within both the Twins camp and the Hudson camp that the deal will be done soon, even though there are a number of hurdles and roadblocks which each side will need to pass before any deal is done.

One of the biggest factors involved will be Orlando Hudson passing a physical and a medical test – but if will is the deciding factor here, then could be pulling on the uniform of the Minnesota Twins within days.

Reports in the last few days saw the Nationals as the clear favourite to sign Hudson, but in attempting to wait for his price to drop they seem to have played themselves out of the game.

The defence of the Twins will be bolstered by Orlando Hudson, who was a golden glove winning second baseman last year. Minnesota prides itself on not giving away easy runs, and so his lockdown defending could be the final part of the puzzle for the Twins.

In 2008, Orlando Hudson had surgery on his left wrist, and some commentators believe that this affected his form and quality last year.
