Tucson, AZ, United States (AHN) – According to the U.S. Customs and border Protection, more than two dozen National Guard troops have reported to their posts at the Mexican border as part of President Barack Obama’s border protection plan.

By the end of October there are expected to be approximately 530 members as they will be consistently deployed over the next two months, reports from the Arizona National Guard stated.

Top Republicans have often accused Obama of not providing adequate security along the U.S.-Mexican border.

In August, the president signed a bill allotting $600 million in emergency funding to help protect the border.

The bill also provides about 1,500 new law enforcement agents, new unarmed aerial vehicles, new forwarding operating bases, and $14 million in state-of-the-art communications equipment.

The troops deployed to the area will assist Customs and Border Protection with criminal intelligence and entry identifications, reports stated.
