Muralitharan Takes 800th Wicket

History was made today as Muttiah Muralitharan takes 800th wicket making him the most successful bowler in Test Match cricket. Muttiah Muralitharan confirmed his position as the undisputed master of spin in his final test match of his career when he took the remaining wicket of from India’s final pair of Ishant Sharma and Pragyan Ojha.

His historic bowl was against Ojha and was caught at first slip. All of the players on his team had talked before of the pressure upon them not to drop any balls in order to give Muralitharan a total that looks insurmountable. Shane Warne by comparison has 708 to his name and there is some debate as to who the finest bowler is, given Muralitharan notched up 187 from lesser nations such as Bangladesh and New Zealand.
