Milan Man Utd Result
The Milan Man Utd Result was 2-3 after this strange first leg game at the San Siro in Italy. This was the opening game of the knockout stages of the Champions league.
Milan Man Utd Result
Milan dominated early on and after a free kick by Beckham was poorly cleared by Evra, Ronaldinho popped up to volley the ball home. Van de Saar was wrong-footed by a deflection on the volley and didn’t stand a chance.
Milan continued their domination for the next 20 minutes and were unlucky not to score another one or two goals, with Pato being especially profligate infront of goal. Milan were made to rue their missed opportunities deep into the first half in bizarre circumstances. A cross from the right cannoned off Scholes standing leg as he attempted a swivel volley. The ball then trickled into the far corner past the hapless Dida.
Half time would likely have seen a dressing down for the Man Utd team who were very poor at the back. However, the game soon span on its head as the second half unfolded. Man Utd became more assertive in possession and after the substitution (which turned out to be inspired) of Nani for Valencia, Man Utd pounced.
A floated cross from Valencia was met by a sublime floating header by Rooney, back across goal, giving Dida no chance. Shortly after Man Utd added a third with a neat bit of play by Fletcher finding Rooney in miles of space. His header, again, gave Dida no chance.
From then on Man Utd dominated and could maybe have increased their lead. However, careless play by Rafael gifted Milan a second goal and a way back into the game. The right back lost possession in his own half and two passes from Milan later the ball was in the back of the net, this time from a flick by Seedorf, who had come on to replace Beckham.
All in all a good result for Man Utd but they may be made to rue that second goal in the return fixture. I bet not many people expected a Milan Man Utd Result to be 2-3.
