The words ‘Kevin Smith Southwest Airlines’ will probably never be heard again, or at least in the near future after the cult actor was stopped from boarding an aircraft for being ‘too fat’. The actor told his story through a variety of Tweets sent Saturday night, when he says that he was thrown off a flight by representatives who said he was too fat to fly.

He said that he boarded the plane as normal, but after he was seated and a number of people had identified him as Kevin Smith, Southwest staff decided to inform him that the Captain had deemed him a ‘safety risk’ and that he would not be able to fly.

In defence of the situation regarding Kevni Smith, Southwest offered him a $100 voucher for the inconvenienve, but it seems that that didn’t go down too well either. One of the elements which angered him the most was that he was already seated with the arm rests down.

Kevin Smith and Southwest will probably have an acrimonious relationship for the next few years, not only because of what has happened but also because Smith has a large Twitter following – and they have gone on the attack over what they claim are ‘fattist’ actions by the airline. The Kevin Smith Southwest situation will develop over the next few hours.

  • What would be the point of giving him $100 voucher if he is “too Fat” to fly on their planes?

  • Who cares? He probably has a movie coming out.

I think Southwest owes him a lot more than a $100 Voucher and an apology, Southwest is the last airline I would consider buying a ticket from right now and yes I’m telling all my friends of every size to take their business elsewhere. They need to get ready to see their ticket sales go down and hopefully another airline will learn from their mistake and let people of size know they are actually welcome to travel on their airline without being in fear of being humiliated and discriminated against while travelling.
