El Arish, Egypt (AHN) – A Libyan ship carrying humanitarian relief supplies to the Gaza Strip has diverted to an Egyptian port after the Israeli navy prevented it from entering Palestinian waters.

Gaza-Bound Aid Ship Forced To Dock In Egypt

The Moldovan-flagged ship Amalthea docked at the port of El Arish. Supplies will continue the journey to the Gaza Strip over land on trucks under the guidance of Egypt’s Red Crescent Society.

Medical supplies and aid workers who were aboard the Amalthea will enter Gaza through the Rafah border crossing while food from the humanitarian shipment will enter the Awja border crossing.

Supplies for this relief shipment came from the Gaddafi Foundation, a charity headed by the son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

This shipment of humanitarian relief supplies was only the most recent that has been stopped by Israel from reaching port in Gaza as Israel continues to blockade all sea ports on the Gaza Strip.
