The latest Forbes music high earners list has been released, and U2 have been crowned as the richest band in the world over the past twelve months. Entry onto the Forbes.com music high earners list is not easy, with the number ten spot earning $48 million, or £31.3 million.

U2 head the list after spending much of the year on their ‘global 360′ tour. The total estimated earnings for the band is a mammoth $130 million, or £84.9 million. Another touring mega-group is AC/DC, who are second on the list with $114 million, or £74.5 million.

The biggest names in pop music from around the world are in the Forbes music high earners list, including Britney Spears, Madonna and the ‘first couple’ of vocals – Jay-Z (6th) and Beyoncé (3rd).

The newest kid on the music block, Lady Gaga, has dominated the charts and has been part of a tour this year, helping to get a foothold in the top ten and earn a staggering $62 million (£40.5 million).

The collection certainly is eclectic, with rock, rap, R&B, pop and country all represented in the Forbes music high earners list.
