England World Cup Squad 2010
The England World Cup Squad 2010 has just been released and Fabio Capello has sprung a few surprises in contrast to Sven’s reliance on stars even if they didn’t merit their place in the squad. The England World Cup squad 2010 is now out and has been cut down from the initial 30 involved in the two recent friendlies.
England World Cup Squad 2010
These are the England players who missed out on the plane for the World Cup:
OUT: Bent, Walcott, Baines, Adam Johnson, Tom Huddlestone, Scott Parker, Michael Dawson.
This is the England Squad for the World Cup 2010 in full:
Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, David James, Robert Green
Defenders: Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock
Midfielders: Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips
Forwards: Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney
The omission will be considered a shock but many Arsenal fans will have understood the decision given Walcott’s lack of intelligence in his final ball despite his undoubted goal-scoring ability. Wright-Phillips and Lennon are considered two similar to Walcott to have all three in the squad. Adam Johnson unfortunately didn’t do enough and this World Cup probably came too soon for him and Baines. Ledley King will be delighted to have made the cut, but there is no joy for two of his Tottenham teamates Michael Dawson and Tom Huddlestone.
What are you thoughts on the England World Cup Squad 2010? Do you think that Capello made the correct decisions and is there anyone you would have liked to have been included? Now the England squad is known, all eyes will turn to the World Cup 2010, now only a tantalizing 13 days away.
9:02 pm
I carnt belive that wallcot is not in the englend squad
9:29 pm
cappellos an idiot
9:29 pm
If you cared that much you probly might not have spelt his name wrong
9:46 pm
I wouldn’t take goalies or two crock players….King and Barry..
Walcott, should go as a striker, no good on the wing, crossing to fresh air..England won’t even make the quarters…
9:49 pm
Walcot is rubbish – thats why.
Well done Capello!
9:50 pm
Three goalies i mean..Take an extra midfield or striker…
Should have an English manager anyway..
German for Germany, He,(Capello), is only in it for the glory…How can a foreign managers Heart be in it??????/
9:56 pm
Walcott may not always score but with his speed, he contributes to plenty of goals. He is not a selfish player and is more than happy to set up rather than take the glory himself. I think they’ll miss him.
10:11 pm
Is KING, in the squad?
10:18 pm
Maybe Capello Made The Right Decision By Dropping Walcott.
Leave Your Trust In Him As HE Is The Manager Not You!
11:05 pm
Heskey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Need i say anymore wtf
11:11 pm
I can’t believe Capello has taken Shaun Wright Phillips firstly he is awful and second he has done nothing to Man City. Goods news that Joe Cole made the squad. I cant believe Capello is taking Heskey over Zamora after the brilliant season he’s had
11:17 pm
Why Three Keepers?
11:25 pm
I Think Shaun W Phillips is a fair pick and Zamora should have been picked over Heskey. Adam Johnson could have been a good gamble if Capello had left a keeper behind. But who am I to comment
11:26 pm
GUESS WHAT – Capello knows more than you
all. DEAL with it. To be fair i’ve not seen your management
credentials, how many La liga’s and Italian Scudettos have
you won? and for that matter how many england training sessions have
you taken? I would have took johnson, but fuck me who are we
…to question Fabio? BELIEVE!
11:28 pm
If we win, he’s picked the right squad…
If we lose, he’s picked the wrong squad..
Simples
11:29 pm
Only change should be take Bent and leave Heskey at home !!
Rooney has played well all season as front striker, why not play him in that role for England with Bent or Defoe as support. If need to revert to frontman with Rooney playing off, then it should be Crouch as target man, at least he is likely to score.
11:30 pm
How did Dawson not make it!! He’s been excellent this season
not suprised by wallcott I mean he cant keep the ball
glad king got a chance ;)
11:37 pm
Cant believe he took Carragher instead of Dawson. Carragher turned his back on England and doesn’t deserve to wear the shirt. What happened to Capello’s stance on fit and in form players? P.s LEWIS, don’t dig out people for spelling mistakes when you can’t even spell yourself, ( its probably!!)
11:45 pm
England,s manager has chosen his players, he is the manager. It is his choice who he take and who he leaves.
His record speaks for itelf. A winner.
Instead of slagging him off and having a go before we kick a ball, lets just think what he has done for England.
We as a nation are too quick to run people down, I am sure that his skill and football knowledge will play a major role in the world cup
Instead of moaning about your own personal favourite, he is thinking of a whole squad.
Good luck to him and the players.
The queen, god and England.
11:46 pm
Carragher instead of dawnson? That’s ridiculous, and i’m a Chelsea fan.
Also, Walcott is awful, absolutely awful, so that was a good decision not to put him in.
Finally, I’m not sure we have enough strikers
11:47 pm
perfect team selection
11:53 pm
An Aston Villa reserve forward playing for England? Out of form Man U midfielder and centre half and Chelsea centre half? A Man U forward who will probably get sent off? Lampard and Gerrard who are usually invisible for England in midfield.
No need to worry about the competition after the first round.
12:05 am
Walcott’s final ball delivery was the thing that let him down, and Lennon and Wright-Phillips are the finished article.
Joe Cole is getting back to his best, and will make a big impact in SA.
Capello went with the experience of Heskey over Bent.
Shame about Adam Johnson – definitely one for the future!
Must always take 3 keepers – no doubt about that!
Baines looked like a rabbit in the headlights in the 1st half against Japan, improved 2nd half – next time maybe….
Carrick was lucky to retain his place – Parker must have been extremely close to replacing him!
Its all about cover in every position.
Capello is the right man for the job this time. No Englishman around with his experience! What are the options? – Roy Hodgson – excellent; Sam Alladyce – may be an option; Harry Redknapp – excellent too.. Who else is there???
Shame that Wayne Bridge ruled himself out – Not Terry’s fault!
12:19 am
Fernando torres here.sad walcott is not in, he should take heskey place. baines and dawson should take upson and warnock place as they are much better. huddlestone and adam johnson are still too young and gerrard, cole, lampard, lennon and carrick are too good for them.
12:24 am
Joke!Heskey? James? same old s*%t, we are never going to win!!
12:32 am
Picking the likes of heskey and upson just shows how weak englands squad actually is. The odds that the bookmakers are giving for them winning are laughable, most having them as 3rd favourite. It is probably Englands weakest team in the 44 years since 1966.
Leaving Walcott out is the right decision, he never should have went the first time in 2006 and is one of the premierships most over rated players. I’m glad he picked joe cole as he is one of the most talented squad members.
12:35 am
C’MON ENGLANDDDD!!!
Personally I think it’s the fans and the spirit who will push England to success, so STOP moaning and SUPPORT YOUR COUNTRY!!!!
12:36 am
I am happy with this squad, Capello knows what he is doing or he wouldn’t be the England Manager.
GO MILNER, WARNOCK AND HESKY X X
1:06 am
Theo unlucky – next time 4 sure.
Real issue – Heskey,,,??? Just don’t understand y… never have,,, never will.
Wasted seat on the plane for my liking…
1:21 am
how on earth a you people leavin walcort?????
1:51 am
kimbojangle – u r obviously not an England fan, but quite clearly a Villa fan, this squad is supposed to represent England not just a team who plays in the league. Walcott will be missed as he contributes and sets up a lot of goals…..Heskey should have quit football ages ago or changed job to ballboy. England will be lucky if they finish 2nd in the group stages now
1:54 am
look england are an average side, will we do okay but we have no chance of winning it form says that, statistics say that so why everybody thinks we can win it makes me laugh you no nothing about football, fabio will does his best with what weve got but unfortunatley we are not good enough to win it simple we havent won anything for 40 odd years we failed to qualify for the euros so wake up mexico ripped us apart holland spain brazil portugal germany argentina all better than us america already beat us in friendly and the afriacan nations sides r not going to bad sides either i love england but have to face facts we r not good enough
1:56 am
I would have left walcott at home too. Adam johnson should have gone as a lad with nothing to lose, he’s looked bright.
was that really torres, oi oi
2:32 am
Heskey?
2:49 am
whats with 3 keepers James is past it as for heskey his season started off ok but feel off but we have this tradition of taking crocked players but if Rooney dont throw his dummy out the pram we should do fine…………GO ENGLAND
3:30 am
Ledley King is a great choice. Why then no Michael Dawson, they have a great understanding and work well together.
Apart from that a good choice all round.
3:43 am
england are the most over rated team in the world, 3rd best odds to win shocking truly shocking, i hope they dont make it through the group stages at least then the media can realise how crap they truly are, im so sick of english commentry the most baised bullshit ive ever heard!
3:55 am
EVERY GUY DESERVES A CHANCE…YOU WILL ALL BE EATING YOUR WORDS WHEN WE WIN THIS YEAR! Come on England! Make us proud!!!! xxxx
4:09 am
Well done Fabio. Spot on
4:29 am
Heskey??????? what on earth was Capello thinking?
5:10 am
i am pretty happy with the general pick but i would drop green and take an extra midfield most likely huudlestone who can play defensively and has a wicked shot and superb pass. Heskey is the right choice compared to bent because heskey is a great playmaker true he doesn’t score enough goals but we have plenty of goalscorers in midfield and up front. Hope Hart is number 1 he has had a superb season and james is still defintley in the squad good choice capello!
5:13 am
forgot to say i would take scott parker who is quality by the way i am not a hammers fan but i don’t think upson is up for the job.(sorry for the pun)
=)
5:28 am
Bent For Heskey
Parker For Carrick
Dawson For Upson
Johnson For SWP
Other Than That Perfect!!!!!
5:30 am
I think this squad has potential but thats it, weve had 2 shit games off the run but managed to win both 3-1 miraculously, anyone who saw either would have to agree its been a fluke how weve won.
Capello must know what hes doing but Id have taken Hart and Green not James instead of captain clown shoes take Dawson, instead of Heskey take Bent even though he plays for the maccums give him a chance. In fairness neither have show promise in their recent games but who knows it might just clicked in South Africa. Oh well guess its too late to guess now!
What ever happens, I think we’ll end off playing shit all tournament and end up going far. As the italians have proved before sometimes shit football wins you the world cup, lets hope Capello can prove us wrong.
COME ON ENGLAND!!
6:05 am
Roughan: Zamora is long term injured so he never was a possibilty.
As for Walcott his problem was clear in the last two matches, he’s fast but it leads nowhere.
