After all the talks of the past few days have settled the Conservative government can start to press on with its policies but its first port of call was appointing all the ministers for the David Cameron’s cabinet posts.
Here are the appointments for the Conservative-Liberal cabinet so far:
PRIME MINISTER – DAVID CAMERON
DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER – NICK CLEGG
FOREIGN SECRETARY – WILLIAM HAGUE
CHANCELLOR – GEORGE OSBORNE
HOME SECRETARY AND MINISTER FOR WOMEN AND EQUALITY – THERESA MAY
DEFENCE SECRETARY – DR LIAM FOX
LORD CHANCELLOR AND SECRETARY OF STATE FOR JUSTICE – KEN CLARKE
HEALTH SECRETARY – ANDREW LANSLEY
BUSINESS/BANKING – VINCE CABLE
ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE – CHRIS HUHNE
There are still other ministerial appointments, especially Home Secretary, to be made but this is the crux of the new Con-Lib cabinet that will go on to form the government for the next five years. They will face a hard time and my become increasingly unpopular as the mammoth financial task facing them is daunting.
