Mike, actually it’s been 2 quakes in less than 2 yrs! We had one on April 2008.

My office is located right near the epicenter in Pingree Grove, Illinois and I keep feeling rumblings under my chair. I must be paranoid since I’ve been waiting for aftershocks. It was said there would be aftershocks but we wouldn’t feel them. Yeah, well, we weren’t supposed to feel the main quake either. And believe me I felt it yesterday very strongly. My bedroom furniture was banging against the wall. There is no logical reason for a quake this far north in Illinois.

Wow. 2 in 3 years. I missed both of them. dang it.

I used to live in las vegas so this was what we experienced from california earthquakes. It did wake me and I couldn’t sleep afterwards.

I was woken up by this. I live about 20 miles from the epicenter. Quake lasted about 8 seconds and really startled me. The whole house was shaking and I could hear a low, deep rumbling. They say that it could be felt all the way in Indiana and Iowa. I never experienced anything like this.
