Michigan, USA (BGN) – It seems that the new Boss 302 Mustang is the final destination of racing developments made on the Boss 302R.

Until recently, the development of the 2012 Boss 302 version of the Ford Mustang was a secret to everyone, including most people at Ford.

But now the news is out and Mustang fans are full of glee, though many of them may not realize how much the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 will benefit from the extensive racing technology and real-world experience gained in the development of Ford Racing’s Boss 302R.

In fact, many of the Boss components are identical between the competition and production versions of the car.

The Boss 302R was rigged with data acquisition equipment used to collect data that was then used to develop the Boss 302.

Mustang chief engineer David Pericak says on the Ford website, “Since the Boss 302R race cars used many of our planned production parts, we had the advantage of six months’ worth of racing telemetry to add to our standard battery of environmental tests pulled from the 2011 Mustang program.”

It’s clear that Ford believes in the old saying, “racing improves the breed” and with the Boss 302, makes its robust racing technology available to the masses.
