black ops patch problems black ops patch ps3 call of duty black ops patch 1.04 call of duty black ops ps3UPDATE – It seems that Treyarch have been listening to the feedback from the Black Ops patch problems and are applying several hot fixes to get the game working again. The Black Ops patch problems are continuing as Call of Duty: Black Ops patch 1.04 for the PS3 caused even more issues to surface. Gamers are experiencing a number of Black Ops patch problems on the PS3 such as constant connection interruption, game freezing and loss of connection to host.

Black Ops patch 1.04 on the PS3 was meant to correct a lot of the netcoding issues that have dogged Call of Duty: Black Ops since its launch in November. Despite record sales the game has been borderline unplayable on the PS3 due to connection issues, host migration problems, freezing, transmission errors, party problems, as well as poor framerate and spawn issues.
The Black Ops patch problems surfaced almost immediately and it is certain that another build will have to be released to counter these new bugs. Gamers are becoming exasperated with Treyarch and Activision who, it is claimed have released a wholly inferior version of Black Ops on the PS3 than its XBox variant. Whilst many players have welcomed Treyarch’s attempts to balance the game with tweaking to how sniper rifles work and adjusting Hardline Pro, the playerbase is getting increasingly frustrated that the game remains almost unplayable in multiplayer with frequent disconnects happening in the majority of game lobbies and the spawn system remaining infuritating.
With the fixes being deployed live, there is hope that the PS3 version of the game will now work as intended. Community Manager Josh Olin had this to say on the official Call of Duty: Black Ops forums:
Hey PS3 community –
We are aware that many online players have been experiencing connectivity issues since Tuesday’s patch. We have been working hard to track down the cause and fix them as quickly as we can. We’ve already updated the game with one “hot fix” since Tuesday’s release that has improved many of those connectivity problems, and we’ve got more coming, so stay tuned.
Forum feedback has been tremendously helpful. In fact, we’ve been on the forums, monitoring feedback and in a number of cases, working with community members directly, so please keep the feedback coming. In the meantime, know that we’re committed to doing everything we can to support the best online experience, and we’re working quickly to resolve this issue.
NOTE: There have been rumors suggesting that deleting your save data will improve network connectivity. Please do not delete your save data, as it will not have an effect on network connectivity. A hot fix was released at 9:30p PST last night, coinciding with the first instance of this rumor, and this hot fix is the reason many users have experienced improved connectivity.
Treyarch appears to be getting on top of the Black Ops patch problems on the PS3 which can only be good news for all gamers trying to play and enjoy the game

I am a pretty even tempered person. And love Black Ops. But I have had it with this crap. And now they patch it and make it worse. I seriously want my money back if something isn’t done. AND QUICK. Bet I only completed 6 or 7 games out of 20 attempts last night.

In what could be the greatest first person shooter of all time, treyarch and activision have epically failed with the network issues. Everything about the game content, with exception to spawning in certain game modes, is spectacular. There is a never-ending amount of activities to do in many different modes. Unfortunately, the game is unplayble at certain times. I’m a competitive gamer who also knows its not the end of the world when you lose. But my win ratio should be about 2:1 and instead i have more losses than wins. This is because most of my losses are from connection issues ending the game. Every time we lose a host, connection is interrupted, or the lobby just closes (ALL occur very often), my combat record receives a loss. This is incredibly frustrating as I win the majority of games I actually play without these network issues. I really enjoy playing games apart from my full time job, and I play the Call of Duty franchise more than any other game. If these connection issues continue I will be forced to buy an XBOX 360 to continue gaming without faulter. Please Playstation, make this right. I’ve been a fan of playstation for a long time and I’d rather you show your customers some respect and fix this problem.

How, in any way, is this Sony’s fault? It’s Activision and Treyarch who run these servers. In most cases, the game creators run their own servers for their games, Not Microsoft or Sony. However, Sony games and Microsoft games /might/ have their own servers. After the release of MW2, the same thing happened on both consoles, huge success, and then sloppy behavior by Activision.

I have disconnect problems freezing and all the other problem everyone has But unlike zak i still hold a 2:1 win and a 1.93 k:d this is a Treyarch and Activision problem not a Playstation problem is there codes that are causing the issues

well said Mate. My Kill Death Ratio Is 3.18 And In 1 Particular Game I was on a kill streak record of 22 on team death match on Launch. However This New record of mine went in shatters as the game froze and the game counted as a loss LOL :’(

I totally agree with you especially about the whole ratio thing. I have failed so many contracts because I can’t stay connected. I have also been a ps fan for a long time and I really hope they fix this problem. I already have an Xbox and have so many friends that play black ops on it and do not have any problems. I am really close to buying black ops for the 360 so I don’t have these frustrating problems. Please Sony, do not make me go there, just fix it….

the patch did not help one bit if anything it made things worse kept getting timed out on TDM i have to keep sending invites after each round and when i have my team they show up as green triangles many people that i know have gone back to playing MW or MW2. I think going foward anything that is made by treyarch i will avoid.

Yes, freezing while the map is loading is another problem I failed to mention.
I’ve heard Activision is pushing towards requiring subscriptions for online play. I also heard if this is put in effect the servers should run better, and perhaps DLC will be more affordable. One major reason I prefer PS3 is because there are no online fees. But, if it fixes the network issues once and for all, I will gladly pay the $30 or $40 a year. I am anxiously awaiting to play this game with friends and family minus the infuriating disconnections(and freezes).

owned 4 360′s b4 ps3 4 red rings 2 out of warranty . not going thru that again . treyarch please fix server issues . in these hard economic times where i spend my money is a serious choice . please don’t make me lose out. u need to address these issues as they are valid. going back to mw2 until new patch. hope this isn’t my last cod purchase. may have to be if issues aren’t resolved . at least let us know you are aware of issues and are working on them.

The biggest selling most hyped game in a generation and the Play station (and it’s loyal fans) has been delivered a botched version.
The game is now totally unplayable due to this latest patch, time for legal action to be taken against Activision and force them to refund all those that bought a PS or PC version.
It’s a scandal of global proportions.

Probably the best point I have seen, Sony has helped to create this ball of wax called the PSN. You rarely see any issues with the Playstation Store, right!
It looks like Sony has left it up to the developers to run their online on their own terms, there’s no guaranteed service and go figure it’s sort of FREE. XBOX Live is not free, right?
The PSN has been nice because it seems to offer freedom but I think we are starting to pay the price…
I would rather pay for the service and know it’s supposed to work than hope it works for free…

I’ve installed the 1.04 and haven’t managed to complete a game without the host disconnection error. I find the online game pretty much unplayable now so I’m going to put it on it on the shelf and look to pick up a different game. It’s enormously disappointing that they’ve manage to turn such a fantastic franchise into such a complete pile of worthless crap.

This is not a PS3 issue Zak, but Treyarch and Activision problem. These game makers could care less about PS3 players obviously. I hate XBox, and if this doesn’t clear up soon, I’m back to MM2. Infinity Ward puts out a far superior product connection-wise. Never had a problem with internet when playing.

truly upsetting. besides what zak said i dont get my match bonus either which really makes me made. Or il get my chopper gunner and we will migrate host and i dont even get points for earning it because i never called it in. MP mode is 95% unplayable, looks like i will be playing mw2 till they fix black ops or give me my money back for a lemon of a game.

mate, that sums it up the best! all 100% true, and to get the spawning issue in as well! my misses hears me shout “killed from behind again!” evry 20 secs, when i do get a game (about one in ten attenpts), but taken game back to store under, trade discription act, which is what i srongly recommend to all.

seriously!!! i STUPIDLY played 23 games today.. 22 of them lost connection.. i kept thinking the next one wont… well IT DIDNT.
this is horrific.. Treyarch should be ashamed of themselves but think about it. what do they care.. they ALREADY broke sales records. they got their money. why bother keeping PS3 fans happy. its outrageous.. im going back to MW2 and waiting for MW3.. im returning black ops and recommending everyone i know with a ps3 not to buy it.. spread the word.. the game just doesnt work.. it most likely wont until MW3 comes out

So, when I bought this game I thought it was shit. The day after I tried to return it but couldn’t. So I bought MW2 so I could play that again.

I played about 20 games (or should I say “tried” to play about 20 games today) and was only able to play 4 through to the end. This is ridicilous. I paid $60 for something I can not even use. Normally, when you buy something that doesn’t work, you can take it back and get a full refund. But I know that won’t happen if I take this back so I guess I’ll keep it and wait for another update and maybe someday, far in the future, I can play this game online. Til then, I guess I’ll go back to playing MW2 with the rest of my friends. A game with issues of its own, but at least you can play a full match without losing a connection. FAIL

I shelved Black Ops for now. Back to MW2 and working toward Prestige 10. If Black Ops isn’t fixed by Christmas in ten days I bet the series on PS3 is dead. Sad to say but I would like them to go back to 1.02 and remove patch 1.03 and 1.04. The game was good until 1.03 patch.

Ever since that patch came out, I’m unable to play zombies solo (PS3). It freezes before it gets to the game while the doctor is speaking. I reset my system, still freezes in the exact same spot. Turned off the PS3 in the back. Ditto. Is anyone else having this problem?

UPDATE.
Just had a 2hr session and I played all the games without disconnection or PS3 freezing.
It’s playing like it did prior to the patch, so, maybe the servers had to be configured to work with the new patch.
Either way, it’s back to being playable (for now) just with the annoying bugs it’s always had.

Here’s a Red Flag, you’re already at Patch 1.04 and it’s been what, less than 2 months? The problem I see is clearly on the development side, (porting to be specific)if we knew the truth about how games are ported from one system to the PS3 we might not even buy these games. Anyone remember what EA did to Half Life 2?
These games appear to be developed on ONE platform, probably the 360/PC and PS3 gets the leftovers, makes me sick because the PS3 has a whole lot more potential than Microsoft’s mini ATM.

The PC & PS3 versions of Black ops should never have been released, they needed another 6 months development time.
If Treyarch didn’t release the game on time they would have been hit with massive payment penalties … they took a chance and now they are suffering, I will never touch a Treyarch game again , or an Activision one.

I will say this; when this game runs correctly it’s by far the best FPS on the market, iWard has got to be laughing on their way to the bank. 3ARC has got to get their stuff together and think of the “over all” community, I believe they tried too hard with this latest patch and unfortunately the PS3 gamers have been sacrificed.

I am a long term gamer, online or offline and own both PS3 and Xbox , currently favouring my XBox
I cannot believe the amount of issues that PSN users are getting it is unreal. I have heard various rumors about virsues uploaded onto PSN , i can see people blaimg Ty or PS about the issues but no real answers , i feel for you guys i really do.
fortunately i got this for my 360 and I can find a game in about 45 seconds and reading the above i am loving live even more.

well i complained that i got lots of lost connections and freezes a couples of days ago. yesterday i got 1 freeze and 1 lost connection from 34 games. altough the matchmaking is still slow

Yes it should be working 100% but things are getting better. When you have a k:d ratio over 1 , it meens you manage to play “decently” without froze 85 % of the time.
Treyarch … keep working on the patches. You are allmost there.

I have not experienced any connection problems with the game I believe it is a great new addition to my collection but I dont like that I cant join sessions and I also have trouble inviting other players into my sessions. I dont believe the game is inferior but I would like to see that fixed. Its no Red Dead Redemption thats for sure lol

I have had it from day 1 of release and can not play it at all. Campan. freezes and Online also after about 5 mins.
