Best Picture Winner
The biggest award of the Oscars is always considered to be the Best Picture award which goes to the movie that Hollywood believes was the number 1 movie of the previous year. This year the Best Picture Winner was either going to be Avatar or The Hurt Locker – and the winner of the best picture ended up surprising many.
Best Picture Winner
The best movie winner at the Oscars ended up being Kathryn Bigelow’s The Hurt Locket, a war movie set place in Iraq.
Avatar did end up being winners in some other categories, but James Cameron will surely be disappointed in losing out to his former wife when his movie did so brilliantly at the box office.
The Best Picture winner of 2009 as you will remember was another controversial choice with Slumdog Millionaire bringing the Best picture award to India for the first time.
Let us know your reaction to the best picture winner, The Hurt Locket. Did it deserve the most coveted prize in show business, or was James Cameron’s Avatar robbed of what was rightfully theirs.

I loved both movies, for me it could have gone either way. I would’ve loved it if Avatar had won though.
I however do think Avatar was massively robbed in other categories. One being that Zoe didn’t even get a best actress nomination, despite – in my opinion – being the best actress of 2009. Her performance was incredible.
I also find it hard to believe – being a musician – that Avatar would lose to “UP” for best original score. James Horner is just one of, the best if not the best composer, of our generation without any doubt.
Last but not least Cameron should have won Best Director, period.

AVATAR was robbed!!! The Hurt Locker was basically a documentary. AVATAR was a masterpiece, add The Hurt Locker to the list of movies that will be forgotten.

The Hurt Locker was a pretty good movie, I don’t know why everyone’s so upset about “Avatar” not winning, it was a glorified cartoon.
