With the recent release of the iPad, application developers everywhere have been scrambling to put together new apps for the groundbreaking device.

Thus far, the apps that have come out for the iPad are few and far between compared with those for the iPhone. However, several of the apps that have been released are quite impressive.

Best iPad Apps

One of the most interesting applications released for the iPad so far has been Nova, a first-person shooter game that involves using the touchscreen to aim and fire weapons, toss grenades, and person simple actions like opening doors. Nova looks a lot like Halo, and you have to wonder whether the developers at Halo are putting together a version of the game for the iPad.

Among the apps for watching TV, NBA’s Mobile League Pass shows how well the iPad can process a live stream of high quality video. While some users complain of a lag time and they don’t seem to have HD yet, most are satisfied with the speed and quality of the picture.

Finally, the interface for the New York Times’ app really shows off the potential of the iPad. In addition to being very user-friendly, it’s much easier to read than the iPhone because it’s so much bigger. This type of program demonstrates how the iPad will be able to challenge Amazon’s Kindle for the reading tablet market.

It should be noted that, while iPhone apps are compatible with the iPad, they have not been directly designed for the iPad. These three apps are a sign of what’s to come in the future for iPad apps.
